Reading Homework

Students are required to read nightly, Monday through Friday for 20 minutes as a part of their regular homework.  We have discussed in the class the importance of "practicing" reading in order to become a better reader just like we would a sport.  The reading calendar will be a part of your student's reading grade and is due at the end of each month. I would encourage you to have your child read aloud to an adult or sibling as well as silently.
Does it make a difference if your child reads every night? Read to see mathematical proof! Why Read for 20 Minutes Every Day

Hike the Cliffs

Next Thursday, September 15th, Mr. Heide will be taking the third grade class on a hike up the cliffs.  We will leave school at 8:30 and return by 10:30.  Any parents that would like to hike with us are welcome to come! Please just let me know if you are planning on coming.  I would also encourage you to dress your student in layers since it will probably be cool in the morning and warm up  by the time we finish.  If it rains, we will reschedule.
